Movement Assessment – Online

What to do when painful movement is holding you back in training…

Have you been stuck in the cycle of incomplete rehab?

Hi, I’m Pete – Movement Specialist based in Cardiff, UK – and I’ve been helping people overcome repetitive injury and long-term pain since 2014.

Painful or problematic movement is common in training and it can really get the way of your goals!

Most people I talk to have been around in circles with rehab – trying various approaches to “fix” their pain, but only ever seeing limited success.

Stretching, foam rolling, massage sometimes work, but often only deliver short-term results…

Then as soon as you get back to training at any kind of intensity, your problem returns.

This can really get inside your head, putting you in cycle of overthinking and FEAR around certain movements…

You might be thinking “Is this movement safe?” or “Will I get injured again?”

If this sounds familiar I can help…

How Movement Works

Movement is a very individual thing – we all move in our own unique way.

In truth, there is no “right” or “wrong” way to move, but…

If you are overusing one part of your body, that can be changed. And if you are overprotecting a part of your body, that can be changed too!

When this happens is important to take a step back and look at exactly what’s going on with your movement – bone by bone, joint by joint, muscle by muscle.

And this is where a Movement Assessment comes in…

Get Your Movement Assessed – Online

A running biomechanics assessment – online!

A personalised Movement Assessment will help you discover exactly how you move so you can optimise your movement inline with your training goals.

If you’re a runner we will watch a video of you running.

If you’re a cyclist we will watch a video of you cycling.

And if you’re a weightlifter we will watch you lifting!

Our approach is personal to you – because there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to assessing movement!

How It Works

Step 1 – We have a quick chat on the phone or WhatsApp and find out what you need

Step 2 – You film the movement you’re having a problem with

Step 3 – We review your video, assess your movement and send you exercises to perform

The assessment will help you:

  • Learn exactly where your movement inefficiencies lie
  • Test your movement in relation to you and your goals
  • Analyse your biomechanics (joint sequencing, muscle recruitment)
  • Monitor your movement under fatigue (find the point where your movement breaks down)
  • Test ROM, stability and power output
  • Discover the movements to add into your training routine to get you moving better

Your Exercises

Targeting end-range left hip for the squat

After your Movement Assessment we will create a series of exercises for you to add into your training routine – to help you start moving better, avoid painful or problematic movement patterns and finally get your training back on track.

Your homework exercises will be sent in video format through WhatsApp so you’ll always have them to hand.

    Back To Pain-Free Running

I can thoroughly recommend Pete to help with sports injuries. Pete has helped me to return to regular running after severe knee pain. And you don’t even have to be in the same place to have an appointment!

I had to pull out marathon training because of a knee injury. I had consulted several people, sports therapists, GP, podiatrist etc., but nothing seemed to help. I heard about Pete through a recommendation so I thought it was worth giving him a try.

As Pete is based in Cardiff and I am in Torbay, we agreed to have an online consultation. He asked for a video of me running in advance. In fact, he was the first of the 7 people I have consulted who actually wanted to see me running! This gave me some confidence and meant that he was prepared and already had an idea of my problems before we started.

Having a Skype consultation was surprisingly unproblematic – it Pete put me through a series of tests and constantly asked me for feedback. He used the feedback to adapt the exercises to obtain more information about my flexibility. He then gave a clear analysis of what he thought the problem was and what I needed to do to improve it. He talked me through a daily set of exercises to improve flexibility and then sent follow-up information to consolidate this.

The whole process was focused and professional. In fact, the Skype route probably made the process more efficient, because there is no need for either of us to travel, and less scope for other distractions. And best of all, I am now running without pain again.
